From the Principal

Dear Families

Dad’s Night

Last week we held our annual Dad’s Night and again it was a wonderful evening. It is so heartening to see the great turn out on the evening and observe the interactions in the classroom.  Thank you to Judelle Parker and the PFG helpers and supporters for their tireless efforts on the evening.  Thank you to Mr Roberts and Mrs Allen for their support in preparing for the event and to the teaching staff for their work in preparing and organising the activities.   Thank you to all of the families that attended on the evening.  Congratulations to our raffle winners – Riley, Greg, Amelia, Matt and Imogen.

NAPLAN News

School NAPLAN results were released recently and we have also received our 2019 individual results.  Staff will soon spend time analysing these results and identifying areas of strength and need for future focus.  Individual results will be sent home to students this week.

Wellbeing Survey

Over the past two weeks Grade 4-6 students have completed the online Wellbeing and Engagement Survey.  Thank you to all students for taking the time to thoughtfully complete the survey.  The data will be useful for future planning for us as a school and for the direction of Tasmanian Education.

Classes 2020

As mentioned in the last newsletter, our Leadership Team have started looking at class configurations for 2020.  To accurately complete this exercise, we ask that you contact the school office if you child will not be attending Longford in 2020.  If you know of any families with K-6 students who are moving into the area could you please also notify the school?

Leave

I will be taking fifteen days LSL starting on the 23rd of September.  Miss Doran will replace me as Acting Principal during my time of leave.  I look forward to catching up with everyone on my return, early Term 4.

Mr Roberts will also be taking some leave from the 10th of September for approximately eight weeks.  We wish Mr Roberts all the very best and a speedy recovery following his knee surgery.

Mrs Brady will be on LSL for three weeks from the start of this week.  Safe travels, Mrs Brady.  Mrs Brady will be replaced by a team of staff, with the hope that there is minimal disruption to Mrs Brady’s groups and Reading Club.
