From the Principal
Dear Families, Students and Friends,
Welcome to Summer! I hope the warmer days and longer nights provide opportunity for some family time together outdoors. We are busily planning the last three weeks of the school year and we are already enjoying some wonderful celebrations.
We recently hosted the Northern Midlands Infant Fun Day at Longford Primary School. The event was an incredible success and students had a fantastic time participating in the range of events organised. Congratulations and thank you to Mrs Jen Copeland for your organisation of this event for our cluster of schools. Thank you also to Mr Tantari and Mr Roberts for all of the work completed behind the scenes and on the day to ensure the event was such a great success. (see photo gallery further in the newsletter)
End of Year Celebrations
On Monday I had the privilege of hosting our final Principal Morning Tea for the 2020 school year. Congratulations to all of the students who were nominated in Term 4 for showing growth and achieving their learning goals.
Well done to Leo, Ruby-Jaye, Hayden, River, Kobey, Harry, Maya, Aiden, Kelcee, Lacey, Heath, Melina, Chase, Ryan, Leila, Nikayla, Jordan, Imogen and Aden. It was a pleasure to share morning tea with these outstanding role models.
We hosted our final School Association meeting for 2020 yesterday. I wish to sincerely thank every member of the committee for their outstanding contribution to our school. I also want to thank our retiring member, Mr Nick McKinnon. Nick has provided the committee with ongoing support and guidance and his contributions will be very missed. We will be looking for new School Association members in 2021, and it would be wonderful to welcome new families onto the committee. The School Association are currently running our LPS Christmas Raffle. There are some fantastic prizes available –please return all raffle books to the office as soon as possible. The raffle will be drawn on Friday the 11th of December – good luck!
Today we hosted our K-5 Award Presentation. Due to COVID restrictions our end of year events look very different to past years. Congratulations to all award winners – you are all incredibly deserving of your awards and I am very proud of each of you for your sustained efforts this year.
Next week, on Wednesday the 9th of December, we will host our Presentation Day Assembly in the GP room at 11:30am with our Grade 5 and 6 students. Grade 6 students are encouraged to invite two guests to the event and these RSVP’s are now due in to the office. Unfortunately, we are unable to invite additional people to this year’s final assembly due to capacity restrictions.
On Friday the 11th of December, we look forward to hosting a Whole School Fun Day from 10am-2pm. Students are able to wear free dress on this day. Please note however, students need to have shoulders covered, and wear appropriate footwear (shoes, not thongs). Students must have a hat and sunscreen will be provided. I would also encourage students to have a spare set of clothing in their bag in case they get wet. A free sausage will be provided to all students if they would like one, but I encourage everyone to bring some extra food on the day and lots to drink as it will be a very busy day in the sun!
This is a spectator free event.
Please note that we are required to follow strict protocols regarding COVID practices. These protocols mean we can only host limited visitors at school events. If you have any questions or queries regarding our Covid Safety Plan, please do not hesitate to contact me for more information if required.
