Book Week Celebrations

The Teachers and Reading Ambassadors have been excitedly preparing to celebrate books, authors and illustrators this week. Students have explored the Children’s Book Council of Australia shortlisted books of the year in library lessons and classrooms.

Activities that will support our school’s focus on the importance of reading are Readers’ Theatre performances by the Reading Ambassadors, book reports shared at our daily line ups and a display to visit to guess staff’s favourite book. The week will be wrapped up with the annual Book Week Parade where we will see some curious creatures and wild minds!

Look out for our photo gallery on Facebook.

Longford Primary School is excited to host a range of Book Week activities during the week starting 19th of October.  This year’s theme is “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.”  To celebrate book week, we will host our Book Week Parade at school on the morning of Friday the 23rd of October. Students are invited to choose a favourite book and dress up as their favourite character.  Students may also like to choose a book with mythical creatures (unicorns, mermaids, witches, aliens etc.) and dress in this theme.  Dressing up is optional and open to all students from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Unfortunately parents will be unable to attend the parade this year but we will share all of our celebration events through photos on our Facebook page throughout the week.
