From the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
It is wonderful to see our attendance rates starting to rise again and less colds and sniffles now the sun is starting to shine. Please remember to call the office if your child is unwell, so we can record absences accurately. A sincere thank you to all families and visitors to our school for completing the Covid Safety Screening forms on arrival. We appreciate all that you continue to do to help keep our school and community healthy and safe.

Welcome
A warm welcome to two new staff members at Longford Primary School, Mr Alex Payne and Miss Sarah Elliott. Mr Payne is teaching 5/6 and Miss Elliott is teaching a range of lessons across all classes. Please take a minute to say hi to them if you see them in your child’s classroom or around our school over the coming weeks.
Swimming
Congratulations to Grade 3-5 students who have now started their second week of Swimming and Water Safety. Students have shown great resilience, courage and growth; working hard to learn new skills and develop more confidence in the water.
Country Gold
Wishing our Country Gold selected students all the best for their challenge matches this week and two day carnival next week. Thanks to our School Association for supporting each student with $20 toward their fees.

5/6 Sport
Congratulations to all 5/6 student on your participation in Friday 5/6 Sport. I saw bravery and courage displayed by many of you. Well done for showing up with a great attitude and giving it your best effort each and every week – congratulations!
STEM
Our Prep-Grade 3 classes have enjoyed some fantastic STEM lessons with Mrs Viney this term. Grade 4-6 students are looking forward to engaging in this program in Term 4.
MND Fundraising
Thank you to all families for supporting our MND fundraising initiative. Our first fundraising event ‘CRAZY COLOURs for SPRING’ raised $457. We sincerely thank Longford Rotary for their $110 donation. We are well on our way to our $1500 goal for the year. Our second MND fundraising event will be held on the last day of term – Friday the 25th of September. On this day, all students, K-6 are invited to dress in their footy or favourite sporting teams colours and bring a gold coin.
Father’s Day Raffle
Thank you to our School Association members for running a very successful Father’s Day raffle. The Association raffle raised $858. Thank you to all families who contributed prizes to the raffle and bought tickets. Monies raised will go towards our End of Year Grade 6 Celebration Events. We sincerely hope all Dads had a wonderful day on Sunday!

The footwear to accompany the Everyday Uniform must be black enclosed shoes.
School hats will be required in Term 4. These can be purchased from the school office: slouch $10, bucket $8 and legionaire $8.
Students are discouraged from wearing black track pants/black leggings and black socks as these items are not part of our school uniform. The school is very happy to help sort additional or temporary uniform items if required – please do not hesitate to ask for assistance if required.
