From the Principal
Dear Families
What a pleasure it was to host our recent Principals Morning Tea to celebrate with the recipients of a Courage certificate in Term 2. Congratulations on being exemplary role models to your peers and outstanding citizens of Longford Primary School. This term we are focusing on the Value of Aspiration and enjoying learning about what it means to be an ‘aspirational learner’.
Country Gold
Congratulations to the grade 5/6 participants in the Country Gold trials last Friday. All students who were able to try out showed fantastic sportsmanship and demonstrated our departmental values of respect, courage and aspiration. Congratulations on all who were selected for their respective sporting teams, we are very proud of all who tried out and for the effort put in by each of you.

5/6 Sport
I have been so pleased with the participation and behaviour of our 5/6's at Friday Sport this term. At times there have been lots of nerves, but students have faced each challenge with courage. Well done 5/6's!
Covid Safety Plan
Our School Covid Safety Plan reminds us to stay vigilant and proactive in keeping ourselves healthy and safe. Please remember:
- All adults to stay socially distanced (1.5 m) when on school site
- Not to congregate within the school grounds at drop off or pick up
- If you are on site for longer than 5 minutes, adults need to come through the front office and complete a Covid health form
- Students are reminded not to bring toys from home or food items to share
- If students have cold or flu like symptoms they must remain home
- Regular handwashing and cleaning will continue as adults and students transition in and out of classroom spaces
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Swimming and Water Safety Program
Our Swimming and Water Safety Program for years 3-5 (and some 6s) will begin on the 31st of August and finish on the 11th of September. We are really excited that we have an opportunity to join this program in 2020 as we know many schools have missed the opportunity. Please be aware that the program is not allowing spectators this year.
Student Wellbeing Survey
Our Grade 4-6 students will take part in our second Student Wellbeing Survey in the week of the 24th of August. This survey will provide us with some valuable data on how our students are coping following the challenging year they have had. If you have any questions regarding this survey, please speak with your childs teacher or Miss Doran.
LiL / LiFT Bags
We look forward to sharing a new resource with our LiL and Kindergarten families over the coming weeks. The LiL/LiFT gift bags will go home with our Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten students over the coming weeks. We hope you enjoy this beautiful literacy resource.
Launching into Learning
We have been very excited to start our LiL programs again this term. We have been overwhelmed with so much positive feedback about our programs. Please encourage friends and families that you may know with little ones to join our LiL Facebook page, or pop along to one of our Monday or Tuesday sessions.
Kindergarten 2021
If your child is turning 5 in 2021, we warmly invite you to take part in our weekly Monday Pre-Kindergarten sessions. In preparation of enrolment, please start to organise the following documents:
1. Proof of child identity (Birth certificate or passport)
2. Proof of identity of enrolling parent/guardian (drivers license etc)
3. Proof of students residential address (lease agreement, telephone bill etc)
4. Immunisation records
Happy Learners
Look at our P/1’s learning in the sunshine!
