From the Principal
Dear Families
What a wonderful few weeks it has been at Longford Primary School! As we head towards the end of Term 3, we are feeling incredibly proud of the learning, growth, and community spirit that has been on display. From special events to everyday classroom moments, it has been great to see our students thriving and our families actively involved in school life. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
Dad’s Night – A Fantastic Turnout!
We had an amazing turnout for our recent Dad’s Night, and it was truly heartwarming to see our school community come together to celebrate student learning. The evening was filled with laughter, connection, and pride as families engaged with their children’s work and activities.
A huge thank you to Longford JBS, JJ’s Bakery, Longford Fire Brigade, our dedicated family volunteers, and the Hawker family for their generous donations. Your support helped make the night a great success, and we are so grateful for your contributions.
End of Term Assembly & Evidence of Learning
On Thursday 18th September, we will be hosting our End of Term Assembly, followed by an opportunity for families to engage in conversations about student learning. You will also receive evidence of learning – work samples that showcase your child’s progress throughout the term.
We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating the achievements and growth of our students.
School Satisfaction Survey – We Value Your Voice
Our School Satisfaction Survey is now open and will remain available until 19th September. We would really appreciate it if families could take a few minutes to share their feedback. Your insights help us reflect, improve, and ensure we are meeting the needs of our students and community.

Supporting Every Student’s Literacy Journey: Our Approach
At our school, we are committed to making sure every child and young person receives the literacy support they need—when they need it. That is why we use a consistent, evidence-based approach across all Department schools called the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Here is how MTSS works:
- Tier 1 – For all students: Every child is taught to read using proven, evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Tier 2 – For some students: Those who need extra time and practice with specific literacy skills work in smaller groups. Once they have mastered the skill, they return to Tier 1.
- Tier 3 – For a few students: These learners receive one-on-one support to help them learn specific literacy skills, alongside the learning in Tiers 1 and 2.
This system ensures that every student gets the right amount of help at the right time. Whether it is extra practice or individual support, MTSS is our way of making sure no student is left behind in their literacy journey. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about how your child’s learning is supported, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
