From the Principal
Dear Families
The Winter Solstice is nearly upon us. June 21st sees the day of the year that the South Pole reaches its maximum tilt away from the sun, meaning the day with the least daylight hours is with us. It also means we are on the way to Spring.
Our Winter Celebration, due to be held tomorrow, has been cancelled. We want everyone to be able to join together safely but the current condition of our oval makes this too difficult. Please see further in newsletter a link to learn more about the stars. This information was created by our students.
This week sees our student leadership group collecting good quality jackets to donate to Longford Rotary shop. If you can help out by bringing in any jackets you have at home, that are no longer needed, they would love to help Rotary support our families in need.
Parent teacher conversations have begun this week. Teachers will give further information about student reports (that went home on Monday) and also share Evidence of Learning in English, Maths and Science.
I was very proud to give Principals Awards at last week’s assembly and Merit Certificates for Respect at Line Up yesterday. Celebrating the successes of our students is such a joy and we love to share their growth and achievement with our community.
Mrs Burnett has left Harvard and is now in Chicago. In her words “I have gained new knowledge and perspectives, made lasting connections and a developed a renewed sense of purpose”.
