From the Principal
Dear Longford Primary School Community
Welcome to another exciting year at Longford Primary School! We have had a calm and settled start to the school year, and it has been wonderful to see students returning with such enthusiasm and positivity towards their learning. The energy across the school has been fantastic, and our staff are committed to making this a successful and rewarding year for all. We deeply value working in partnership with families and believe that strong home-school connections are key to supporting every child’s learning and wellbeing. In the coming weeks we will have the opportunity to meet with families at our Welcome BBQ on Thursday 27th of February. In the meantime please know you are always welcome to chat with senior staff or teachers around any questions or concerns. We look forward to working with you in 2025 to ensure your child/ren have a positive year.
This year, we continue to focus on three key priorities:
Reading
Developing strong literacy skills is essential for every students' success. Our teaching teams will be using evidence-based strategies to foster a love of reading and improve reading skills across all year levels.
Mathematics
We are committed to strengthening students’ mathematical understanding through engaging, hands-on learning experiences that build confidence and problem-solving skills as well as lessons that include explicit teaching to strengthen student understanding in number.
Student Wellbeing & Attendance
A safe, supportive, and inclusive environment is key to student success. We encourage regular attendance, as every day at school is an opportunity for learning and growth. Our wellbeing programs will continue to support students in building resilience, friendships, and a positive mindset.
