What is your favourite thing about literacy?

I like that I can read better now than at the beginning of the year.  I have been reading a lot. I go to Reading Club and I read at home. I try really hard in class and listen to Mrs Berry.

I like writing because I can now write in sentences. I like to write stories about animals. My favourite animal to put in a story is a koala. I’d like to write a story about a koala. I would call it Luna.

Tell us about this piece of work…

This writing is about our excursion walking around Longford. We saw stained glass windows in the church and we saw the cemetery. Mrs Berry asked us to write about our excursion. I liked writing about what we had done. The picture I drew is at the church. I am proud to be a Literacy Legend.

What is your favourite thing about literacy?

I like writing to create and make up my own stories in my head. I like to write stories about fighting and conflict. These are also the type of stories I like to read. One of the books I like is “Skeleton Key”. It has fighting in it. It’s about a boy, Alex Rider who is an orphan turned teen superspy who's saving the world one mission at a time. I read the graphic novel, which I prefer. I am looking for other books in the series to read.

Tell us about this piece of work…

Mrs Oates showed us 4 pictures and asked us to create a story about one of them. The picture I chose had a person hanging off a cliff. The story about this picture immediately came to me and it was easy to write. What I like about this story, is that it is a starting point for me. I have a plan to write the next part…I left it on a cliff hanger (literally). I also drew a copy of the picture as the background of the page.

What is your favourite thing about literacy?

I like reading because every book has its own personality. There might be a book that might have a bird and another book has a koala in it. I like that they are different. I really like to read about animals.

I like writing because I can make up my own stories but I also like putting some real things in them.

Tell us about this piece of work…

I wrote these books because I was doing some science research about the masked owl and I decided I wanted to write a book about one. I got the idea for the story because masked owls need to find food and thier food is less and less. I wanted to add information. I wanted people to learn about owls when they read it.

I wrote the second one because I hadn’t finished the story in the first one.

I have written another one. I might include the two owls finding food and fighting the other animals off to save their owlets.
