From the Principal
With three learning weeks remaining, we are busy finalising learning cycles and preparing for 2020. December is full of exciting events! We look forward to sharing in many special moments with students and families over the coming weeks. We continue to remind students of our behavioural expectations, ensuring we enjoy this time in a safe and sensible way.
Infant Award Assembly
Our Infant Award Assembly was held today. What a fabulous assembly to be part of! We are so proud of the growth shown by all students this year. Congratulations to all who planned and participated in our learning celebration assembly today – your singing voices were beautiful!
Primary Presentation Assembly
Our 2019 learning celebration will be held at the Town Hall on Wednesday the 11th of December from 11:00am. I am really looking forward to the attending my first Presentation Assembly as Principal of Longford Primary School. I am particularly looking forward to the award ceremony, student speeches and musical items that staff and students have been preparing for over the last few weeks. We encourage parents and friends of our Longford learning community to join us for our celebration.
End of Year Reports
Reports will come home for all P-6 students on Thursday the 12th of December with the student folio. Kindergarten reports will go home on Wednesday the 11th of December.
School Picnic
On Friday the 13th of December, all classes from P-6 will attend the Launceston Aquatic Centre end of year picnic. Students are able to wear free dress on this day; please ensure your child/ren wear sun-safe clothing (tops cover necks and shoulders) and remember to pack sunscreen and hats! We would recommend that students (Grades 3-6) bring a rashie type (or extra t-shirt) top to protect from the sun as our area is outside.
Kindergarten Orientation Sessions
Over the last four weeks, our 2020 Kindergarten families have engaged in Pre-Kinder sessions in preparation for 2020. We hope that all parents found the sessions useful and we are very open to your feedback in regard to process. We formally welcome our new families to the Longford learning community and look forward to partnering with you next year.
Country Gold Cricket
Nick and Jonty represented our school in the Country Gold Carnival - Northern Midlands East team last Monday and Tuesday. These two boys have been seen practising cricket throughout the year before school and at breaks even in the coldest winter weather and it has paid off.
Well done boys!
Northern Midlands Swimming Carnival
This Friday our school will be competing in the Northern Midlands Swimming Carnival at Hagley. Congratulations to all students for representing our school, we are sure you will show great sportsmanship and try your best.
