'Loose Parts' Donations
As a school, we are currently investigating different options and alternatives for play at lunchtimes. Options and alternatives include inside activities, library activities and ‘loose parts tinkering’ play. The children are embracing the choices for play, and are enjoying the opportunity to play with ‘loose parts’ both during inside and outdoor activities.
A definition of loose parts is 'Loose parts are materials that can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up, and taken apart and put back together in multiple ways. Loose parts can be used alone or combined with other materials. There is no set of specific directions for materials that are considered loose parts. The child is the direction'.
Whilst the school does have a collections of ‘loose parts’, we are always looking for other items. Items may include - old pots and pans, colanders, measuring cups, plastic pots, plastic jugs, etc. So during your ‘spring clean’, if you think you may have some ‘loose parts items’ that are no longer needed at home, please don’t throw them out…. they could be ‘treasure’ for our collection at school.
Please see Carol Roberts (Grade 1) if you have items that you would like to donate.
