From the Principal

Dear Families

It is hard to believe that this Friday marks the end of Term 3. It has been a busy term of learning and it has been wonderful to watch students demonstrating the value of Aspiration in all that they do. This Thursday I will meet with our Aspiration values champions for the Principal’s Morning Tea for those nominated by staff around our school. In Term 4 the focus value will be Courage.
In 2/3 they thought about and shared their career aspirations. They used clip art to create some digital images to present one future dream that they would like to pursue. Here are a selection of some of their aspirations.

Congratulations to Haile and Ahlia's family who won the $50 Star Theatre voucher for listing their five expectations for being successful in school and life. Mrs Biffin and the Positive Behaviour Support Team were very impressed by the number of families who participated and are currently compiling the lists of our values.

Thanks to those that attended our parent workshop on trauma by Grant Maynard. It was a positive experience for all involved.

Choir Visit

Choir.jpg

Last Monday our choir hosted the Perth Primary Choir for an opportunity to sing together in a combined choir. The students from Perth joined us for lunch and then both choirs performed to classes and parents. Thank you to Mrs Seen and Mrs Butler for organising this experience for our students.

Collecting Bottle Lids

Bottle_Lids.jpg

Nikayla and Zohen have initiated the collection of bottle tops. These will be used to create prosthetic arms for children. The collection point is at the office. Thank you to Nikayla and Zohen for co-ordinating this important project. Please deliver any of the bottle tops with the tick to the container in the office.

Visits to Cressy District High School

Our Grade 3 and 4 students have visited Cressy District High School to have a taste of high school life. Students experienced wool throwing, watched wool classing and shearing demonstrations. After a BBQ lunch they explored the farm meeting the Highland cattle, pigs and donkey. We thank Cressy for welcoming us to your school.

Kings Meadows High School Drama Visit

On Friday Grade 8 drama students visited our school and thoroughly entertained our Prep to Grade 2 students with a range of drama plays and fantastic costumes. When talking to our students they all talked about how much they loved watching the performances. Dora was definitely a favourite. Thanks to Mrs Geale and her students.

Country Gold

Congratulations to all the students who represented our school last week in the Country Gold Carnivals. It was exciting to hear about the amazing sportsmanship demonstrated by our students.

Reading Club

The Reading Club celebrated another successful term yesterday with a disco and party.  It was a wonderful celebration.  Thank you to Mr Kerslake for his assistance with the music.  A special thank you to those parents who assisted with the food on the day and their continuing support of Reading Club in Mrs Brady's absence this term.

Footy Colours Day

This Friday students are invited to wear their footy colours to celebrate the AFL Grand Final. A reminder that shoulders must be covered and appropriate footwear to be worn.

Garden Thanks

I would like to personally thank Cathy, Aiden, Yuriko and Nina for their ongoing support of our school garden. For the past two terms this team along with other volunteers have taken Bright Sparks units with the Grade 3/4 students and their work along with that of Nori has transformed our garden areas. This Friday members of Rotary will visit for a taste and see afternoon. We look forward to showing Rotary where we have been able to use their generous support. Thank you Cathy for co-ordinating this project we appreciate your ongoing commitment to our outdoor spaces.

Christ Church Art

Over the last month classes have been visiting Christ Church to complete art works for the 175th anniversary. Each participating class has selected several artworks to be displayed at the Christ Church Hall in William Street on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of October. Mrs Joan Barnes from the Church has been blown away by student's talent.

Hats

A reminder that, in line with our SunSmart policy, students must wear hats in Terms 1 and 4 while playing outside. Bucket, legionnaire and slouch hats are available for purchase at the school office.

We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 14th October.
