Dear Families and Students
A big welcome back to Term 3. It is wonderful to see students and families back on site this term. Please remember that we still have many COVID restrictions in place, including:
- Drop and Go can now happen in classrooms. We ask that this be as brief as possible. We recommend families sanitise on arrival in classrooms.
- Adults are asked not to gather within school grounds. Please only enter the school a few minutes prior to drop off and pick up and leave as soon as possible.
- The school playgrounds are closed to families of an afternoon.
- If adults need to be in the school for more than a few minutes they are asked to enter through the office doors and complete a COVID screening form when signing in.
- 5/6 Sport is unable to have parent spectators at this stage.
We will continue to have senior staff support a Drop and Go zone from William Street (the White Zone) each day as an option for families. Now that we no longer have mandated zones for drop off and pick up, we ask that you discuss pick up arrangements with your child so they are sure of where to meet you at the end of the day.
Reports
Reports went home with students on the last day of Term 2. If you have not yet received your child’s report, please phone the school office for a copy.
Riverlands and Robyn McKinnon
Riverlands have very generously donated funds to further support our community as we evolve from the COVID19 pandemic. During this time, many members of our community (adults and children) have experienced a range of emotions, including anxiety, frustration, uncertainty, anger and grief; caused by COVID, isolation, or from other personal factors. Through the generosity of Riverlands, we have been able to secure the amazing Robyn McKinnon (Mum and Mental Health Social Worker) to work with staff and families. If you are interested in taking part in an informal session where you can hear and learn about some personal strategies to cope with big emotions, I encourage you to attend one of Robyn’s sessions next week. RSVP will be required and is due by Friday the 31st of July by calling the school office. Robyn recently ran an informal conversation with the LPS Staff and as a participant, I cannot recommend these session highly enough! Community members welcome:
When: 3rd of August at 9:00am or the 7th of August at 1:45pm in the School Boardroom.
Learn to Swim
Student in Grades 3-5 and some Grade 6 students will undertake Learn to Swim at Hagley Farm School pool at the end of August and early September. Timetables and permission forms will be sent home next week.
Launching into Learning
Welcome to all of our new Kinder Connect and Play and Learn families. All LiL families can access the LiL room directly from William Street and complete the COVID screening form on arrival in the LiL room. Miss Roxy Walls and Narelle are so excited to meet and work with you all.
STEM
For Term 3 and 4 our students will be working with Mrs Bec Viney on our STEM program. We are excited to be offering STEM as an additional program that all students will access in either Term 3 or Term 4.
5/6 Sport
It is fantastic that 5/6 Sport will run in Term 3. There were lots of nerves on Friday, but students showed great sportsmanship - congratulations to all who participated!
Daily Line Up
Students are utilising our additional space in the Quadrangle for daily line ups. This is a great time for us to come together as a school to hear some consistent messages and celebrate successes.
Matrix
Our Positive Behaviour Matirx has been launched and its language is embedded in our daily line up and classroom circle messages. Thank you to all students and families for your input.
Carolyn Sutton

Parent Fundraising Group
The School Fundraising Committee are seeking new members. If you are interested in being part of our fundraising committee this year, please contact our Fundraising Coordinator Judelle Parker, or the school office. This year we have committed to one major fundraiser (Father's Day Raffle) and would love parent or community helpers to organise and promote our major fundraiser. The fundraiser will have a major prize that has already been kindly and generously donated by the McEldowney family. We are looking for donations of items for a second prize hamper pack. If you have an item to donate please let Judelle or the office know. Raffle tickets will be made available from the 10th of August. Any level of support would be gratefully appreciated.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the School Association will be held on Tuesday the 25th August in the board room commencing at 9:15am. Please feel welcome to come along.
Now that all students are back on site, we need to have all school devices back in the classrooms to support student learning.
If you have borrowed a device from the school, please return it at your earliest convenience.
Our Prep and Grade 1 students have completed five 40 minutes sessions with our chaplain Bec Cameron, to explore emotions. Bec is a trained facilator in the Inside Out 4 Kids program offered through Launceston City Mission. Students engaged in discussions, picture books, music and craft to learn about feelings and change.
Grade 6 Parent/Carer Meeting
Grade 6 parents/carers are invited to attend a meeting to discuss the end of year activities. The meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, 6th August, in the board room commencing at 9:00am.
Second Hand Uniform opening times for uniform purchases will now be as requested. Our coordinators are happy to be approached at any time or you can leave a message for them at the school office and someone will get back to you.
Please keep in mind if you are having a clean out of uniforms that we are grateful for any donations.
