Dear Families
I hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend and spend some quality time together, making the most of the warmer days.
Student Wellbeing Data 2025 Results
Students in Years 4–6 recently participated in the annual Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey. Pleasingly, our data shows improvements in School Climate and School Belonging. Students reported higher levels of resilience and strong connections with adults both at school and at home. It was also very positive to see a reduction in reported incidents of bullying. Student wellbeing will continue to be a key priority in 2026, and as a school we will keep implementing strategies to support every student.
End of Year Assessments
Students are currently participating in end-of-year assessments, including PAT testing, DIBELS (a reading screening tool), and subject-based assessments. This data will be used to inform students’ end-of-year reports and demonstrates the growth they have made over the year. The overall results also help us plan the support students will need in 2026.
Staff Professional Learning
Last Friday, staff engaged in professional learning aligned with our school priorities in Reading, Mathematics and Wellbeing. These days provide valuable opportunities for staff to continue building their capacity and knowledge of best teaching practices, as well as to plan strategies to best support all students.
Class Planning for 2026
School leadership has now begun planning for classes in 2026. If you have any information regarding your child’s class placement that may support this process, please contact the office to arrange a time to meet with Candice. If your family is planning to move to another school, or if you know of families intending to enrol at Longford Primary School next year, please contact the school office.
Upcoming Events
Term 4 is filled with exciting events, including end-of-year excursions, our Presentation Assembly, Swimming Carnival and Christmas Carols. Please continue to check our newsletter, Seesaw and Facebook for updates. We look forward to celebrating these special moments with you.

Grades 3-6 Swimming Carnival is being held Monday 17th November at Hagley Farm School pool. There are plenty of events for swimmers and non-swimmers, so we do expect all children to attend. Buses will leave school at 9am and we will return to school in the afternoon. Children will need bathers, towel, recess, lunch and a drink.
Spectators are welcome to attend. There will be a teacher, parent, student swimming race - if you would like to participate please contact the school office.
NO LUNCH ORDERING FOR GRADES 3-6 ON THIS DAY
Our Grade 6 students are having the following fundraisers this term to raise funds for their end of year event.
- Zooper Dooper Day - Friday 7th November. Bring along $1 to purchase from the school canteen at break time.
- Jelly Day - Friday 21st November. Order forms will be sent home closer to the date.
Remembrance Day - 11th November
Since Australia's first Poppy Day in 1921, the red poppy has symbolised remembrance, commemorating those who have made the supreme sacrifice in times of war.
Poppies (50c) will be available for sale from the school office on Tuesday 11th November.
Thank you to our Term 4 Fowl Friends for your care of our feathered school pets.
Gian, Tilly, Charlotte and Jensen.
School Garden - Longford Blooms
The annual event, Longford Blooms, is happening on Saturday the 15th November. People will come to Longford to enjoy the beautiful gardens and our school garden will be part of it.
Our families are invited to come along and enjoy:
- Tours of our garden
- School choir singing at 12:00pm
- Special guest, Martin Flanagan, for story telling after the choir performance. Martin is an Australian journalist and author, and also an ex Longford student.
- Book and clothes swap
- Paella and ice cream available for purchase from 11:45am
Last week, P-2 classes created paper ring characters, with the help from some Grade 6s. We needed to carefully fold the paper and join before decorating.

SOFT DRINK BOTTLES NEEDED
In preparation for water rocket lessons later in STEM/ICT, please donate any washed out 1.25 or 2 litre soft drink bottles to the tub outside the STEM/ICT room.
Thank you.
