As we step into December, the school is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming festivities, achievements, and end-of-term activities. Here’s a snapshot of what has been happening and what is coming up this month:
Infant Fun Day
Our recent Infant Fun Day event was a success, bringing together students from our school and our partner Northern Midland Schools. The day was filled with laughter, energetic participation, and a wonderful sense of community. A special thanks to Mr Ellis and Mrs Claxton for their outstanding coordination, as well as to our School Association members and volunteers whose support made the event possible. It was a joy to see the children learning, playing, and making memories together!
Dance Fever
A group of our Year 5/6 students gave an amazing performance at Dance Fever! Thank you to Launceston College for providing this opportunity and to coach Temiya for the coaching and guidance. Thank you to Mrs Copeland for supporting our students and a big thanks to the families who helped their children take part.
Carols
Students put on a fantastic show last evening. This was a lovely way to celebrate the year and Christmas spirt with our families and school community. Thank you to those who attended.

- Gift vouchers
- Toiletries (male and female)
- Socks
- Books, games, toys
- General non-perishable food items
Our Carols yesterday was a great way for us all to get into the Christmas spirit. Students did a fantastic job singing their favourtie carols. A huge thank you once again to our School Association, Longford Fire Brigade, JBS Longford, Banjo's Bakery and JJ's Bakery for supporting our free bbq. Also thank you to Launceston College for their expertise in setting up the sound system.

Kinder to Grade 2 students took part in an amazing interactive performance by Happy Habits today called, “Knock Knock”. Students were intern detectives and helped to solve the mystery while focusing on self-care and listening.

Binary
5-6 classes have been continuing their ICT learning in digital data representation and Binary. Last week we learnt how to make binary pictures by entering binary code of 0s and 1s to create pixel art. Here are some of our creations. If you would like to have a turn, visit Black & White Pixelation Tutorial #1 | Pixelation - Code.org

Prep Challenges
This week in STEM, Preps were treated to a variety of activities created and supervised by 5-6 Laskey. The 5-6 class had 90 minutes to prepare engaging activities for Prep participants, including online quizzes and games, colouring challenges, fold-out paper challenges, physical education relays, board games, card games and working with microscopic camera. 3-4 Smith/Nobes then tried out our activities and provided feedback to the organisers before the Prep class came to enjoy the activity stations. Well done to all students for their participation and respect shown throughout the lessons.

Well done to our students selected to compete at the Northern Midlands Swimming carnival last Friday at Hagley.
Last Thursday our students performed in Dance Fever at the Door of Hope. Dance Fever is a collaboration between Launceston College and local Primary and High Schools. Students worked with their tutor Temiya weekly and practised at home and in spare time at school. They demonstrated our school values of Connection, Courage, Growth, Respect and Responsibility and did themselves, their families and our school proud.
On Friday 22nd November Bibi, Maya and Eleasah competed in the Schools Triathlon Challenge at Devonport. For their individual events they swam 100 metres, rode for 5 kilometres and ran for 1 kilometre. They also entered the team event with Bibi swimming 200 metres, Maya riding 7.5 kilometres and Eleasah running 1.5 kilometres. A fantastic effort, well done girls!
The girls comments on their day:
Bibi – I met new people and shared a great day with them. I would recommend doing it.
Eleasah – it was difficult in a good way – it challenged me.
Maya – I was pushed to the limit and needed all my stamina. I would recommend it.
